Starfield is a massive game that spans several galaxies and star systems. Humanity has technologically evolved to conquer and colonize the stars. Amidst all this, you start as a miner who is now part of the space exploration group Constellation. Naturally, space exploration involves exploring all the star systems in Starfield.
A star system refers to a system of planets orbiting a star in Starfield. The game has several dozen star systems, and each has unique properties, factions, and habitability. To get the Stars My Destination achievement, you must know how to explore all the Star Systems.
How Many Star Systems are in Starfield?
There are 120 Star Systems spread across the Star Map in Starfield. These 120 Star Systems make up what we collectively know as the Settled Systems. You can check how many you've visited by opening the main menu, pressing the Status button (B on the keyboard, Y on Xbox), and going to the exploration tab.
You can check the span of the Settled Systems by opening up the Star Map from your main menu. Open up the main menu, select the top left option, and press the back button till you're on a screen full of white dots. Each white dot represents one of Starfield's 120 Star Systems.

How to Tell if You Have Visited a Star System?
There are two ways to tell if you've visited a Star System. The first is to open up the Star Map and hover over a system. You've visited it already if you can see all of its details in the top left corner. You've visited it already if you can see all of its details in the top left corner. However, if you can only see its level and name, you have yet to visit it.
You can also tell if you've visited Star Systems or not visually. There will be three kinds of displays for the Star Systems on the Star Map:
- Glowing White: This indicates that you've visited this Star System.
- White: This indicates that you haven't visited this Star System, but it's in Grav Jump distance.
- Red: This indicates that you haven't visited this Star System, and it's also out of Grav Jump distance,
To upgrade your Grav Jump distance, get your hands on some good early-game ships or upgrade your current one with advanced shipbuilding.
All Hidden/Layered Star Systems
Due to the density of the Star Systems in Starfield, some of them might be layered on top of one another. For example, if you select Alpha Centauri from the Star Map, you'll also see the Grav Jump to Toliman option. It's hard to tell if you've visited a Star System due to these layered Star Systems.
Here's a list of all the layered Star Systems in Starfield.
- Bradbury and McClure: These star systems are further up from the Ursaes and Cheyenne.
- Van Maanen’s Star: Tiny star system to the left of Sol.
- Sirius and The Pup: Located down from Procyon, two star systems.
- Bolivar and Rivera: Stacked up and to the right from the Ophiuchis. Right of Volii.
- Guniibuu and Indu: Stacked stars right of Alpha Centauri. One is a story destination.
- Delta Vulpes and Gamma Vulpes: Left and up from the Ternions.
- Alpha Tirna and Beta Tirna: Stacked in the middle at the bottom, directly below Olympus.
- Alpha Ternion, Beta Ternion and Proxima Terninon: The far right of Porrima and Volii is a triple-stacked bright star.
- Procyon A and Procyon B: Left of Sol (and a bit down) in a double stack.
- Bannoc and Bannoc Secondus: Up and right from the Ternions.
- Toliman: Directly below Alpha Centauri.
- Oborum Prime and Oborum Proixima: Stacked and located down and right from Alpha Centauri.
- Bessel and Piazzi: From Narion, head up and left.
- Maheo: Positioned underneath Cheyenne.
- Ursae Majoris and Ursae Minoris: Stacked above Cheyenne.
- Alpha and Beta Marae: Stacked star systems down and left from Kryx.
- Xi Ophiuchi and Zeta Ophiuchi: Stacked stars up and right from Tirna star systems.
- Carinae and ETA Cassiopeia: From Bessel and Piazzi, go up and left.
- Alpha Andraste and Beta Andraste: Stacked together in the top left corner.
- Copernicus and Copernicus Minor: Stacked stars to the right of the Maraes.
- Valo: Located underneath Narion.
What Does Star System Level Mean in Starfield?
The Star System Level indicated the general difficulty of the Star System. High-level Star Systems will have higher-level enemy ships, enemies, and also higher-level creatures. While you can exploit these for various mid-game XP farms and even endgame XP farms, doing so can be dangerous unless you're equipped with the best weapons. The Star System level uses a simple rule to spawn the type of enemy you'll be facing.
- Low player level + high system level = high-level enemies
- High player level + low system level = high-level enemies
That covers everything you need to know about the 120 Star Systems in Starfield. Hopefully, you'll now be well and good on your way to getting the Stars My Destination achievement. Also, learn how to get all achievements in Starfield and our Astronaut Training Manual.
