Starfield became available for preloading earlier today, so it was only a matter of time before people started poking around the files. Ok, everyone still here is clearly fine with spoiler territory going forward. The files in question revealed that space magic in Starfield will be more extensive than first thought.
With the files now in the hands of the eagle-eyed Reddit crowd, we have no doubt that more information will become available as the files become uncovered. We are excited about all the new build possibilities that will come from these new powers.
This post will contain spoilers for Starfield, so read no further if you want to go in with fresh eyes.
Space Magic
The only space magic power we have been shown so far via the Starfield Direct is the Anti Grav Field power. This power will see the player master gravity and throw enemies into the air in suspended animation. We now wonder exactly how many space magic powers there will be to discover in Starfield. Taking on alien creatures or one of the many opposing factions, just got a bit easier.
Nothing really was mentioned much about these powers, or if there will be more, until now. Reddit user u/kami77 shared some asset names from the Starfield files, which revealed the names of some more space magic we will get to play with this September.
In total, there were 24 space magic names pulled from the files, we can't wait to try them all out. These powers could work similarly to the shouts from Skyrim, in which players could absorb them to gain new powers. Perhaps we will need to visit quite a few remote planets or explore some cities more in-depth to discover the powers.
Galactic Hogwarts?
Labelled in the files 'PowerVision', with names such as 'Elemental', 'MoonForm', and 'PhasedTime', it sounds like we are in for some fun times come launch. There are also mentions of 'ArtifactVision', potentially showing stronger powers coming direct from the artifact pieces that Constellation are seeking.
In Starfield, perhaps the pieces of the mysterious artifact will grant us these space magic powers, or at least point us in the right direction to find some. Or maybe there is a school of space magic and wizardry, among the stars? Either way, the discovery has opened up brand new combat possibilities in Starfield based around these powers, Space Warlock anyone?
