It seems that there are still plenty of surprises in store for Starfield, Bethesda’s newest role-playing game franchise. The game started with a surprise nomination and eventual win for Most Innovative Gameplay at the 2023 Steam Awards.
It also recently received six nominations from NAVGTR and was announced as one of the nominees at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.
As reported earlier, Starfield’s surprise win at the 2023 Steam Awards caused a second rise in negative reviews by players who were unhappy with the award for the game.
A similar influx of bad feedback in December had pushed Starfield into the “Negative” territory from “Mixed” on the gaming platform.
It seems, however, that Starfield is bouncing back. A quick look at Starfield’s page on Steam shows that there have been 2,000 new reviews, with the positives in this batch pushing the game’s score back up to “Mixed.”
Based on the chronology of events, the release of Update 1.9.51 to the public on January 30 helped garner some positive feedback from players who either have just started playing the game or have put off putting in a review until now.
Bethesda has already announced that it is putting up another update on Steam Beta this week. Among other changes, this patch will supposedly bring FSR3 for PCs running Starfield. However, it remains to be seen if this and other future updates could help push the game’s score higher on Steam.
