Starfield is set in the future where most spacefarers use Spacesuits to survive the harsh cosmos. You will want the best Spacesuits with the best mods to survive in space's lawless and uncharted regions. This is one of those guides and will focus on Starfield Spacesuits.

Starfield's combat can be tricky if you're unprepared to soak all the damage thrown your way. Spacesuit Modding in Starfield will be as essential as having the correct weapon load out. So don't leave yourself undefended. Check out our Spacesuit modding guide and learn how to research and mod all the Spacesuits in Starfield.

Perhaps not the best to craft armor like this when playing stealth....

Hostile planets will be a part of travelling through the massive galaxy in Starfield. That is why being adequately protected is essential before exploring planets with hostile lifeforms. You want to avoid being exposed to attacks or the elements. You can equip yourself with the following Spacesuit pieces to bolster your defenses and survive the harsh terrain of Space:

  • Helmets
  • Packs
  • Spacesuits

Will you be needing to craft some better armor than the navigation suit?

Several categories for each piece of armor will provide bonus resistance. Hostile creatures may not be the only thing you will need protection from. The environments on each planet may be just as hostile! Ensure the following match the environment or even the type of weapon your foes are using for the best protection levels.

Damage Protection

  • Electromagnetic - Protection against mag weapons
  • Energy - Protection against energy weapons
  • Physical - Protection against ballistic weapons

Environmental Protection

  • Airborne - Protection against airborne hazards
  • Corrosive - Protection against corrosive hazards
  • Radiation - Protection against radiation hazards
  • Thermal - Protection against thermal hazards

Don't forget to craft a helmet as well

Spacesuits can be bought or found when looting bodies, chests, or lockers, as well. You can mod any Spacesuit you find at a Spacesuit Workbench if you have the required materials. However, this requires you first to have the Spacesuit Mods researched at the Research Station. Researching the Spacesuit Mods will also require specific materials and access to the skills of Research Methods and Spacesuit Design.

Many expeditions to harvest resources for the best spacesuit mods will be required. Or you can buy them from the stores in major cities.
