Starfield is only a few weeks away from launch. Arriving this September for Xbox and PC players, the space-adventuring RPG is highly anticipated. Inspired by old-school tabletop RPG adventures, Starfield has received a tabletop game of its very own.

Todd Howard has cited that the game Traveller was an inspiration during the creation of Starfield. Traveller is a science fiction RPG, first published in 1977 and has many similarities to Starfield. From warring factions to dealing with space traders, Traveller certainly has served as a base for Bethesda's upcoming epic to build upon.

Planetside, the fan-made Starfield tabletop game is out now to play for free

One dedicated fan has posted on Reddit their very own tabletop RPG set in the Starfield universe. You can download the one-sheet PDF and start playing today. The love and care shown by Starfield fans on the road to the launch has been phenomenal. From the team that mapped the entire galaxy, to the modders recruiting volunteers to work on the first unofficial patch, there's a special buzz in the air right now.

Planetfield may not have a sprawling golden path quest like the main game will feature, but it could be some good fun to play with a few friends. The one-sheet PDF has players taking a journey to find parts of an alien artifact for a group named The Zodiac. It may be light on details, but wannabe space farers can take a trip to the stars a little earlier than expected. Also, knowing the Starfield community, someone will be working on an expanded version already.

Bethesda are no stranger to tabletop RPG releases themself, with both Fallout and Skyrim seeing officially licensed board game adaptations. Perhaps in the future, we will see an official Starfield board game join their ranks too. For now, we can thank Reddit user bridneus for giving us a taste of the galaxy before we get to launch day.
