Many fans have asked if Starfield is an open-world game. After all, seeing everything the game has to offer, from hundreds of planets to explore, some absurdly detailed ship customisation options, and much more, is making people wonder how Bethesda will pull it off.
Bethesda fans have been waiting for Starfield for a long time, but not all gamers knew about it until the release of the latest videos and interviews. Let's look at the world of Starfield and how huge it is.
Is Starfield open-world?
We have good news for those who want to explore outer space filled with a variety of cosmic bodies. Starfield will be open-world. Quite obvious, wasn't it? After all, high-quality open worlds filled with various content are the calling card of Bethesda games.
So, now that we know the game will be open-world many fans are still having questions about the install size of Starfield. Well, let's look at the information that we have.
How big is Starfield?
Starfield is not out yet at the time of writing, but we already know the install size. First, the download size of the game is far bigger than Skyrim, as you would expect, at 126.1GB on Xbox and 139.84 GB on PC. That's just a colossal number, and you can definitely fit a truly impressive open world into that amount of space.
How many planets does Starfield have?
One of the core activities in any space RPG is discovering and exploring new planets, and there are plenty of them in Starfield. The developers promised us 100 star systems in which there will be more than 1000 planets. This number is really impressive, given the promised opportunity to explore these planets.
However, that's not all. Some of these planets may have different moons and satellites. Sometimes you will explore not only the planet itself but also its moon.
Most of these planets and other objects will be procedurally generated. This means that the game will create new locations when needed. There will also be pre-generated locations that are guaranteed to spawn on certain planets.
