It’s been roughly 16 years since Fallout 3, Bethesda’s first installment after it acquired the intellectual property from Interplay Entertainment, was released. Understandably, fans will find the game’s looks are now very dated compared to its recent counterparts, especially Fallout 76.
Fortunately, there’s a neat little mod called Fallout 4: Point Lookout that you can download for free at Nexus mods. This mod is meant to work off the Fallout 4 base game, but its storyline, like the upcoming Fallout: London mod coming out in April, has nothing to do with the tale of the Sole Survivor and the Institute.
Instead, as its name suggests, it is a major recreation of its namesake DLC from Fallout 3. The mod recreates all the NPCs added to Fallout 3 by the additional content and restores all the quests for that game. All of the events in the DLC are playable but from the perspective of either Nate or Nora.
The mod is freely available for download to PC. The developers, the group named Capital Wasteland, said that they might be able to port it for Xbox but no certainty for the PlayStation 4 because of Sony’s imposed restrictions.
Bethesda’s first multiplayer offering for the Fallout franchise, Fallout 76, is headed towards new ground this year. After the upcoming DLC, Atlantic City - America’s Playground, launches in spring, the story will move southwards from the Appalachians to the Shenandoah National Park.
Aside from a digital art piece called “The Storm,” there are no official details yet on what this massive expansion would bring to the table in Fallout 76.
