From The Elder Scrolls to Fallout and Starfield, Bethesda has always given players the liberty of customizing their games through mods while providing a complete and thorough gameplay experience.
Since the release of Creations Club for Starfield, over 1,500 mods have become available to Xbox and PC users. One fan expressed satisfaction with the studio and how it treats its modders and community.
Originally posted on Reddit by user u/Helios_Exousia, they shared that playing Starfield with mods has been a delight for them. Open-world games such as Starfield tend to over-level players through various quests and exploration, making some areas in the game and enemies far too easy. Thanks to mods available in the Creations Club, user u/Helios_Exousia can freely enjoy scaling enemies wherever they are in the galaxy.

Fellow Starfield fans echoed their sentiment about how mods give them flexibility and how Bethesda seems to be the only video game company that takes this to heart. Others pointed out that Bethesda is still a company that focuses on revenue, and having this feature across its games seems to work for the company.
Several fans agree with both statements but highlight the other effects of modding, such as a toxic environment and hostility towards game developers who are expected to fix post-launch games through the use of mods.
While these statements are true to an extent, Bethesda has a good record of communicating well with its community and providing excellent support across its video games. For example, The Elder Scrolls Online is still going strong and will celebrate its 10th anniversary throughout 2024. Starfield is promised to have annual story expansions following the release of Shattered Space this year.
Bethesda isn’t perfect and has been plagued by various Starfield controversies, but community statements such as these are a testament to how their target market appreciates what they do in terms of mod support and customizability.
