It has been almost 13 years since the latest mainline Elder Scrolls title, and Bethesda has finally announced another game coming into the franchise. Enter The Elder Scrolls: Castles, a brand new mobile game releasing this September 10 on Apple and Android devices.
Director of Mobile Games Craig Lafferty and Production Director Veronique Bruneau of Bethesda Games Studios shared a sneak peek of what to expect from Fallout Shelter’s spiritual successor. The mobile game lets players manage their kingdom and dynasty, akin to managing their very own Vault in Fallout Shelter. Each real-time day counts as a year in The Elder Scrolls: Castles, which means that there are plenty of things to do such as managing subjects, designing the castle layout, crafting gears, and facilitating townspeople who are seeking audience with the kingdom ruler.
Aside from the day-to-day castle management, players will also have the chance to venture outside their castle to gather resources and equipment. Quests outside the castles will let players face classic Elder Scrolls enemies such as goblins and skeletons. Players will also have to make sure to continue their dynasty for generations to come by encouraging their subjects to create heirs in preparation for the throne.
While The Elder Scrolls: Castles is a fantastic treat for mobile gamers and fans of Fallout Shelter, Elder Scrolls VI is still what fans of the franchise are waiting for. With no recent news about The Elder Scrolls VI, longtime fans of the mainline games will have to wait and play the mobile game in the meantime. However, it would appear that Bethesda is currently putting its efforts towards several projects such as Starfield’s DLC, Fallout 76, and The Elder Scrolls Online, with the latter two receiving huge updates over the past few months.
Regardless of whether an announcement for Elder Scrolls VI or a gameplay trailer for Shattered Space comes first from Bethesda, be sure to stay updated with the latest Bethesda news and stories by following Starfield Portal.
