While Starfield’s combat generally focused on gunfights and space fights, it is not uncommon to have melee builds using various melee weapons in the game.

However, melee combat in Starfield is less satisfying than its gunfights and would need some overhaul should players prefer a more stealthy approach.

Thanks to Shade’s Stealth Takedowns Mod, players can now stealthily fight enemies by either knocking them out or through lethal takedowns, similar to assassins and spies from various video games.

Created by verified mod author shadedness, Shade’s Stealth Takedowns Mod allows players to 1-shot enemies during stealth.

While 1-shotting enemies may seem overpowered, the mod requires total stealth and the player should be out of combat for the takedown option to pop up.

Doing lethal stealth damage allows the player to strip the enemy NPC of their equipment, while the non-lethal option will only knock enemies out but players cannot strip them of any equipment worn by the enemy NPC.

Adding a new “Takedowns” skill in the Physical Skill tree, the mod is less than 30 KB in size and is easy to install without any need for a load order requirement.

Just like any other skill in Starfield, the “Takedowns” skill has 4 ranks, including a Healing factor in Rank 3 and a Stealth Cloak in Rank 4.

In other Starfield news, Bethesda’s paid mods are garnering less-than-positive reactions from the community once again.

Players seem to find it odd that Bethesda is too focused on making money through weapon skins that should’ve been part of the base game in the first place.

On top of this, the weapon skin mods from the studio allow Xbox achievements while other community-created mods with the same exact purpose disable the player achievements for Starfield, much to many players' dismay.

Bethesda will showcase more of Shattered Space on Gamescom this coming Wednesday and may include further updates for Creations Club.

Regardless of whether you will become a space assassin or will customize your weapons with paid mods, be sure to stay updated with the latest Starfield news and stories by following Starfield Portal.
