Starfield received its most significant patch yet in its 4th major update, which included new customizable difficulty options players are raving about.

This change allows players to fully control how challenging or easy each aspect of their game is. Ranging from the ship and combat damage to ammo weight and healing, each of these settings now has difficulty sliders that can be changed as the players see fit.

Several players expressed their satisfaction with the new feature, and while this may be the case, some players are contented immersing in the game’s vast universe in the easiest difficulty.

Posted on a Reddit thread, Reddit user u/Auslautverhaertung mentioned that they are playing Starfield for immersion and relaxation in the easiest difficulty level, which was echoed by most of the community members in the thread.

Several fans also said they were thoroughly enjoying the game with their preferred difficulty and the new gameplay sliders, which has been a great experience so far. With an immense number of planets to explore and various faction storylines to progress, immersion plays a key factor to players who enjoy their time in the Settled Systems.

Difficulty sometimes makes or breaks a certain game, depending on who plays it. For some players, punishing difficulty levels from games such as Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, or Dark Souls can be utterly satisfying.

Being stuck with a boss fight for weeks and finally defeating it may bring a great sense of accomplishment to these fans, while others prefer to sit back, relax, and immerse themselves in games that have a rich environment and stunning visuals, like the Bethesda games.

Not everyone wants harder difficulty, but desirable gameplay changes such as Starfield’s recent update elevate gameplay satisfaction, which, in turn, may reflect a higher player count. With Bethesda’s upcoming Xbox Games Showcase announcements, Starfield fans can expect to hear more in June.
