Players in Starfield who do something considered illegal in the Settled Systems will receive a bounty. Different crimes result in different bounties; some deeds are seen differently between factions.
One Starfield player racked up a bounty of over 170,000 credits, which implied that they may have numerous offenses around the galaxy.
Originally posted on Reddit by user u/DowntownWeb1958, the screenshot shows their current bounty, amounting to 178,650 credits. They never revealed their crimes but said they mightāve done something while adventuring across the galaxy.
Many other Starfield players then shared what they did to have everyone in the Settled Systems looking out for the bounties for their heads.

One player shared that something similar is what they do before jumping into Unity. They would rack up a massive bounty in different factions and then just hop over to a new universe, with understandably no remorse towards all the NPCs they hated.
Another fan stated that they accidentally stole one bottle from a bar while trying to talk to a bartender and ended up killing everyone in Cydonia. Itās quite amusing how crime detection works in Starfield; a player may accidentally pick up a cheese at a counter, and some Galaxy police come in accusing them of theft.
Having such high bounties in Bethesda games is not uncommon, and almost every Bethesda player has explored prison at least once during their gameplay, mainly due to an unintended crime or just quick saving for a random spur-of-the-moment shenanigans.
Starfield has that Bethesda charm and players in the Reddit thread say that user u/DowntownWeb1958 is not guilty of doing some āoopsie daisies.ā
