Bethesda may have done a great job simulating space exploration and interplanetary travel in Starfield.

However, many players still believe that the studio can improve the game's current features, such as orbital exploration. In vanilla Starfield, outer space is literally a big empty space.

Mods like the StarSim: Mining Conglomerate mod attempt to tweak and add more activities when traveling in outer space, but players feel that there is something bigger to be added in outer space than just several mods trying to improve on what Bethesda should have done a long time ago.

Originally posted on Reddit by user u/Mister-Fisker, they shared that massive explorable spaces will improve the player experience when traveling in space.

Places such as large, passable asteroids or derelict ships that can be explored while piloting a spacecraft add more activities to space rather than just being part of the gameā€™s traversal or fast travel mechanic.

Many other players share their sentiments, stating that Starfield lacks the space exploration part despite being a space exploration game. Massive derelict space stations or asteroids can be considered dungeons, offering more depth to outer space besides space fights.

Another player mentioned a similar feature: blind grav jumps that lead players to various random explorable places, such as hollow, mineable asteroids or space wreckages.

Starfieldā€™s Shattered Space will appear in the upcoming Gamescom this week, and there is a good chance of Bethesda showing some gameplay trailer as Starfieldā€™s SteamDB change logs have been updated in the past few weeks.

A new gameplay mechanic involving land vehicles is also expected to appear in the live stream. Whether the DLC will include new outer space activities is up to how Bethesda plans its annual content for Starfield.
