Now that you're an official part of the Crimson Fleet, you're going on your first treasure-hunting mission, and it's an important one. Delgado wants you and the other new recruit to prove yourselves by helping him hunt for clues on Kryx's Legacy down at The Lock. In the middle of the quest, Mathis offers you a choice to betray Delgado. Let's review all the outcomes and choices in the Crimson Fleet Quest, Echoes of the Past.
Echoes of the Past Walkthrough
Land Near The Lock
Head down to The Lock landing spot on Suvorov in the Kryx Star System. Note that this planet is extremely cold, and we've seen some bugs with the weather effect not going away if you don't wear a good spacesuit with high environmental protection.
Speak to Delgado
Speak to Delgado, who will be there waiting for you with the other new recruit, Mathis.
Proceed to The Lock
Walk ahead through the snowy corridor to the entrance of The Lock facility. On the way, you'll be ambushed by the hostile local wildlife, Gryllobas. These small scorpion-like creatures are swift and can swarm you quickly. The Exterminator weapon mod and the AntiXeno spacesuit from Hostile Intelligence will be handy here.
Speak to Delgado at the Outer Door of The Lock
Activate the ID card reader for The Lock entrance and speak to Delgado outside the main door.
Head Further Inside
Follow everyone inside the facility as they speak about Jasper Kryx and head down a flight of stairs.
Secure the Perimeter
Once you're in the lobby, you'll be ambushed by another swarm of Gryllobas.
Speak to Delgado
Speak to Delgado to find out what to do next. Another swarm of Gryllobas might attack you when you talk to him the first time.
Speak with Mathis
You and Mathis will walk into a room further ahead and get separated due to the collapse of an ice ceiling. Mathis will suggest you betray Delgado and steal Kryx's Legacy for yourself. Dialogue choices here won't matter, but if you want Mathis as a Crewmember, we recommend you agree with him whenever you interact.
Proceed to the Control Room
Go ahead through the broken panel in the wall and make your way to the control room up ahead.
Use the Intercom to Speak to Delgado
Make contact with Delgado through the intercom device and get a status report and game plan for what to do next.
Open the Doors for Delgado
Interact with the nearby computer to open the doors for you and Delgado.
Proceed to D-Block
Make your way through the rooms ahead to the D-Block section of the prison, where Jasper Kryx was held captive. Interact with a computer to open the door here.
Enter Guard Tower
Your goal is to reach the D-Block guard tower on the other side of the massive room. On the way, there are several detours and several prison cells for lockpicking and looting. You'll also be attacked by swarms of Gryllobas in confined spaces and narrow corridors.
Speak to Mathis
Mathis will bring up his plan once more. Like before, this dialogue won't affect the quest's outcome as Mathis will back out of his plan. Support him, or don't turn him down here to make progress in having him become a companion.
Locate Jasper Kryx's Cell
Interact with the computer nearby to open the locked doors and go through the files present on it to locate Jasper Kryx's cell.
Open Cells in D-Block Section 3
Jasper Kryx's cell is located in D-Block Section 3, and you need to interact with a nearby power switch to unlock it.
Search Kryx's Cell for Information
Search Kryx's cell for information. You have to interact with the lamp and pry it apart on the table. You'll find an audio log from Kryx with details on his plan.
Search Carter's Locker
Make your way through the labyrinthine prison to Carter's Locker. On the way, you'll fight even more Gryllobas. Use your scanner if you seem to be getting lost. Once there, unlock Carter's Locker and grab the audio log that details the prison break plan.
Access Kryx's Escape Tunnel
Make your way to the marked location and interact with the panel in the wall to reveal the tunnel Kryx's team dug to the armory. Loot the armory ahead and enter the Prison Warden's Office.
Use the Intercom
Use the Warden's office intercom to speak to Delgado, who will tell you to escape through the shuttle station. Speak highly of Mathis here to ensure you get him as a companion.
Speak to Mathis
Speak to Mathis, who will walk back on his plan to kill Delgado and ask you not to tell anyone.
Secure the Shuttle Bay
Proceed ahead to the shuttle bay. Once you enter, you'll be attacked by another swarm of Grybolla, but they'll also be accompanied by a large Grylloba Queen. Bring your best weapons.
Use the Shuttle to Exit The Lock
Once you defeat the Matured Grylloba Queen, you can board the UC Prison Shuttle and use it to escape back to The Key. You can register the UC Prison Shuttle for yourself, as it's one of the cheapest ships to get.
Speak to Delgado
Speak to Delgado aboard The Key and hand him the Slate with the information you've found. If you spoke positively about Mathis, he'll be allowed to join the Crimson Fleet. Delgado will ask you to steal the Executive access of a Galbank Executive to learn the location of the Galbank Legacy. He'll also give you the Keelhauler, one of the best unique weapons in Starfield.
Speak to Mathis
If you spoke highly of Mathis, he'll be allowed to join the Crimson Fleet and be extremely thankful to you. He'll turn back on his backstabbing ways and offer to support you as a follower.
Speak to Naeva
Naeva will tell you the ship you're about to board was initially her score and order you to steal the Earth Savior Award from onboard while performing your mission.
Report to Kibwe Ikande on UC Vigilance
Return to the UC Vigilance and report everything that happened to Kibwe Ikande. This will finish the Echoes of the Past quest.
