After only a week of runtime, Amazon has given the green light to produce the second season of the Fallout live-action adaptation.
Prime Video rolled out on April 10 the first season of the live-action TV show Fallout, based on the game franchise of the same title by Bethesda Game Studios.
The series opened to an overwhelmingly positive reception, boasting a 94% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Because of this phenomenal success, Amazon has announced that it has given the green light to produce the show's second season.
Rumors of a second season started spreading after the California Film Commission published a report listing the film and TV projects to which it has allocated tax cuts for this year. One of these is Fallout, which has been offered a $25 million cut.
Amazon has now confirmed Fallout's second season in a statement by Jennifer Salke, the influential chief of Amazon MGM. This further solidifies the decision and instills confidence in the show's future.
“We are thrilled to announce season two after only one week out and take viewers even farther into the surreal world of Fallout,” the executive said.
The statement also acknowledged the production team's work paying homage to the popular game franchise, whose games are currently seeing a surge in player count.
“The bar was high for lovers of this iconic video game and so far we seem to have exceeded their expectations, while bringing in millions of new fans to the franchise,” Salke said.
GSD data reported by GamesIndustry.biz showed that sales of Fallout 4, Fallout 76, Fallout: New Vegas and Fallout 3 have all increased significantly in the European market alone a week after the live-action series' release.
Fallout, which stars Ella Purnell, Aaron Clifton Moten, Walton Goggins, and Kyle MacLachlan, is now available on Amazon Prime Video.
