According to Bethesda's Todd Howard, Starfield players will be happy to know that the intergalactic action role-playing game will get some good updates soon.
In an interview with IGN, Howard spoke at length about the recently released and very successful first season of the Prime Video live-action adaptation of the hit video game franchise Fallout. The executive producer talked about how the people who made the game a TV show did an excellent job with it.
“They really knew their stuff, I'll tell you what,” Howard said. “Everybody behind the show, it's one of the things that you wish people could see.”
Towards the end of the interview, Howard mentioned that Bethesda is working on many things, particularly video games such as Fallout 76 and the Elder Scrolls VI. However, in the midst of the many things he said, one thing should stand out for Starfield players and fans:
“...[W]e're doing a lot of Starfield work as well. So we have some really good updates that are going to get announced soon for that game,” Howard said.

Could this be Starfield’s story expansion, Shattered Space?
Starfield has received several updates already since the start of the year. The biggest update yet, released in March, added the Photomode and Scanner features and the ability to autosave when fast travelling from a planet’s surface to its orbit. The update also contained fixes for many issues affecting gameplay, graphics, quests, and more.

Shattered Space is not just an incremental update meant to bring a few features and several fixes to bugs and other issues. In its year-end announcement, Bethesda described Shattered Space as Starfield’s first major update, containing new content, locations, gear, and more. At the time, the game company said they were already working on the update and that they would release it in 2024.
Now that Howard himself mentioned that “really good updates” will be announced for Starfield soon, should fans rejoice? Of course, fans are free to hope that Bethesda will release the story expansion sooner than later.
Howard’s words, however, cannot be taken to explicitly mean that the Shattered Space DLC is coming. Readers are advised to take things with a grain of salt and wait for official announcements.
