Starfield - Slower Than Light Mod

Space travel is one of the most enjoyable aspects of Starfield, Bethesda’s newest and biggest intellectual property to date. However, a common gripe among players is that, without grav jumping, traveling within a star system takes too long.

For example, streamer Alanah Pearce previously tried to travel to Pluto from Earth without using fast travel. It took her ship 7 whole hours to reach Pluto, at which point she found that she could not land on the planet without taking the fast travel route.

She also had to make constant corrections to steering since Starfield amazingly implements real orbital physics, which means your destination does not always stay in the middle of the screen as the planet also travels around its star.

Fortunately, modder 105gun uploaded a creation on Nexus Mods that aims to address this common issue in Starfield.

Named “Slower Than Light,” the mod will allow users to control the speed of their ship’s travel using hotkeys that they define. This means you can now go faster than the game’s default space travel velocity.

According to 105gun, the mod can make your ship accelerate to up to 100 times the speed of light. The mod provides individual “gears” for each speed, much like a stick shift car does. These gears are assigned a specific hotkey, and users can customize these keys through the Starfield ini file.

By default, however, the gears are assigned to the number keys above the letters on the keyboard.

If you’re interested in controlling the speed of your ship’s traveling, you can download the Slower Than Light mod on Nexus.

Mods do make the Starfield experience a lot more interesting. Last week, multiple users uploaded Hello Kitty mods that would bring Sanrio’s popular cat into Starfield.

These mods allow you to substitute the default Chronomark with a Hello Kitty watch, dress up your character in Hello Kitty outfits, and customize Vasco with Hello Kitty colors.
