Fans of Bethesdaā€™s newest open-world RPG, Starfield, celebrated when the game was nominated and then won Game of the Year at the Golden Joystick Awards. Many eagerly looked forward to voting again for Starfield as Game of the Year at The Game Awards but were sorely disappointed.

Starfield was not on the nominee list for TGā€™s Game of the Year award. Instead, games like Resident Evil 4 Remake, Baldurā€™s Gate 3, and Alan Wake 2, among others, made it to the roster.

Not all is lost, however, because Starfield is still in the running for another award - Best RPG.

However, some fans are decidedly not happy, including the X account Xbox Curator.

In his tweet, Xbox Curator called for a boycott of the Game Awards after Starfield didnā€™t make it to the GOTY shortlist. He even used the hashtag #JusticeforStarfield in his post and an expletive directed towards The Game Awards.

He also created a short video comparing the gameplay in Mario Wonder, one contender for GOTY, with some Starfield gameplay. You might want to check out the comparison video below.

Indeed, it is slightly disappointing that Starfield didnā€™t even make it into the shortlist after the Golden Joystick win. However, itā€™s yet to be seen if anyoneā€™s really going to boycott the TGA stream on December 7.

For now, what we can do as fans is to give Starfield our vote for Best RPG and give it a shot at earning another accolade.

Starfield had garnered significant attention in the years leading to its release on September 6. It was previously slated to drop in March this year but had to be postponed.

When it was finally released, it was such a huge success that Microsoft credited Starfield with GamePass for a massive uptick in revenues in September.
