With video games on the market numbering in thousands, it is a Herculean task to determine the best. That’s where online polls can help out, and, in this particular Reddit votation, Starfield’s predecessor, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, came out on top.
Based on the OP Redditor’s thread introduction, it also appears that it was more than just an ordinary poll where you put up options for the community to cast their votes. The OP said they had to emulate GQ’s method of determining the Top 100 Video Games of All Time.
Using Reddit as a base platform, the user solicited Top 10 lists from various other users. They then assigned 10 points to each Top 1 game in each user’s list and points in descending order to the following games down the list until they got to no. 10.
They collated the points each game collected and assembled the Top 100 games using that data. They then repeated the process, using the new list as a voting reference, many times until they arrived at the Top 10 and, eventually, the Top 1 game of all time.
As mentioned earlier, the game that holds the honor is The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, which Bethesda has once again updated.
Following close on Skyrim’s heels are Red Dead Redemption 2, Elden Ring, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild in spots No. 2, 3, 4, and 5, respectively.
Other interesting games that made it to the list are Resident Evil 4, which ranked at No. 11, and Fallout: New Vegas, ranking one point higher at No. 10. If the games that competed directly with Starfield in other games awards, only Cyberpunk 2077 made it to the list at No. 98.
