Games like Bethesda’s latest open-world offering, Starfield, have one thing in common - they all begin at the same place. What if you could find a way for your character to start their journey at a location different from your other characters?

That is now possible, thanks to a new mod called Alternate Start. The modder, SpaceDov4, actually based this mod on a similar one for Skyrim called “Alternate Start - Live Another Life.”

Alternate Start randomizes your character’s starting position, as well as their gear and their background. Each specific background is assigned a unique location, so choosing another background for your new character also alters their starting location.

The mod also spawns your character without any traits, so you can pick those you want through the console. According to SpaceDov4, some characters may begin at level 2 instead of level 1.

The mod supports all factions and backgrounds so that charaters can receive a unique starting point.

However, the mod initially keeps the Fast Travel limitation since full privileges to Fast Travel are only unlocked after you return The Artifact to the Constellation faction.

If you’re into mods, check out our Mod of the Week. This week, we picked the Slower Than Light mod, which allows you to modify your ship’s top speed and make it travel up to 100 times the speed of light.

The mod makes space travel within star systems much faster without going through a grav jump. We believe that’s the way it should be when it comes to traveling the stars.

We hope this mod will give all players a more immersive experience - you don’t have to fall asleep waiting for your ship to reach your destination.

Keep checking back often for more Starfield news, updates, and guides.
