Bethesda’s latest open-world RPG, Starfield, features stunning visuals of sprawling cities like New Atlantis and the sweeping vistas of stars and heavenly bodies. However, a few items look out of place because they are rendered at a lower resolution than the rest of the game.

Well, all that is about to change with the Starfield HD Rework mod at Nexus Mods.

According to the modder, HalkHogan, this project is similar to an existing project - The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project. Like that one, this mod will be reworking background assets and increasing resolution so that details are consistent across the board.

HalkHogan says the project will not materially impact performance as it will only require a small amount of additional video RAM. People don’t have to rework their rigs as well to be able to use this mod for their Starfield game.

While an initial version is available on Nexus Mods, the modder said he is actively working on the project, so players should expect updates in the future.

HalkHogan is also the author of The Witcher 3D HD Reworked project. This mod was officially licensed by CD Projekt Red, the developer of the hit game behind the Netflix live-action series, which previously cast Henry Cavill and is now headlined by Liam Hemsworth.

Modders have been very busy creating mods for Starfield, with over a thousand now available for free at Nexus Mods.

Bethesda’s Todd Howard, who directed Starfield, said they will support mods. However, players would have to wait until 2024 until the official modding kit is released from the company.

Howard had promised that they would create official support “in a big way,” which means that the company will be taking its time in building the official Starfield mod kit.
