Team FOLON’s Fallout London DLC is now set to be released for older Fallout 4 versions via GOG.com. Recently, the team announced that the mod was almost ready as it was undergoing QA testing with GOG. According to VG247, Team FOLON and GOG’s partnership through this mod is a trial run for supporting major mods by providing easier access and installation. If this is the case, what does it mean for future mods and modders alike?
Team FOLON and GOG confirmed that Fallout London, due to its colossal size, can be downloaded via GOG along with a downgrader and installer for quick installation. This opens up the possibility of GOG becoming a storefront of bigger mods alongside purchasable video games. GOG mentioned that the partnership with TEAM FOLON for Fallout London will test the waters on whether the community is up for huge mods being offered in the storefront. If this works for Fallout London, there is a huge possibility that GOG games such as The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 will get the same treatment and have their mods offered on the site.

However, pricing will be a different topic altogether. While Fallout London is a free mod that can be downloaded once it launches, future mods that will possibly be offered on GOG will have to be priced correctly, as Bethesda’s Creations Club was recently surrounded by controversies on how the studio priced additional questlines for Starfield. Todd Howard has recently responded to this issue and mentioned that the studio will be looking into a better pricing system when it comes to paid mods.
GOG offering easy and quick access to gigantic mods such as Fallout London can change how accessible future mods will be to the general consumers. The ease of having to download and install mods quickly will be a sure way to open up mods to a bigger audience. If this happens, more gamers who are fans of GOG’s franchises will be more keen on exploring mods offered on their storefront.
