The Fallout 76 team is counting the days until the new expansion, Skyline Valley, finally rolls out to its eager legion of fans. For now, the team has put together a short informative video about what Wastelanders can expect from the upcoming chapter.

Fallout 76 fans were mesmerized in December when Jonathan Rush unveiled a digital painting called “The Storm” and revealed that it is a teaser for an upcoming mid-year major update for the online multiplayer RPG.

Theories immediately emerged, attempting to explain the storm and the possible reasons why the story is expanding south from the Appalachians to the Shenandoah National Park.

Now, we’re hearing from the folks at Bethesda Game Studios about the story behind the lightning storm and its implications for the Wastelanders of Fallout 76. Jon Rush himself presented this information and others in a new video on YouTube.

According to Rush, the lightning storm is a new event called Dangerous Pastimes exclusive to Skyline Valley. In this event, players have to safely escort another player tasked with powering up a lightning rod as a storm chaser.

The video also introduced the concept of electrified ghouls called The Lost, who live exclusively on Vault 63 and its immediate surroundings. Rush explained that these electrified ghouls live in their own reality with no way of communicating with the outside, becoming severely hostile in the pursuit of self-defense.

Rush also revealed the Storm Goliaths, a trio of gigantic robots with brains created by the inhabitants of Vault 63. These newcomers are extremely hostile and open to any challenge.

In other news, Fallout 76 also released a hotfix to its latest update, Update 1.7.11.12. This hotfix remedies a bug that began with the new update that caused the Fallout 76 client to crash. The hotfix also introduces tweaks to the game’s weapon visual effects and makes Repeatable Daily Score Challenges visible on the Microsoft Store.
