December is a time for celebrating not only the holidays but the year that was. In line with this, studio director Matt Firor pens his Christmas and year-end message to all those who continue to make the Elder Scrolls Online a success.
The note begins by discussing this year's successful updates to ensure that ESO was stable, including upgrades to the service’s servers and fast. Firor also highlights Necrom, which he describes as ESO’s “highest-rated chapter,” and takes pride as an example of the team’s focus on quality storytelling.
He moves on to celebrating the launch of the Infinite Archive mode, which allows players to play specific content repeatedly, like an arcade game. Firor alludes to launching more similar modes in the future in their bid to balance ESO’s content systems.
Firor then mentions the upcoming launching event in April 2024 to celebrate Elder Scrolls Online’s 10th anniversary, which he says covers April 2024 to July 2025 in honor of the fans who didn’t sign up for ESO until June 2015.
There will also be a Global Reveal show in January to unveil what new systems and content players can look forward to in 2024. Firor urges players to wait for the announcement and to make their calendars!
Finally, Firor unveiled the growth that ESO had experienced in 2023 alone. He said that almost 2 million players have become part of the Elder Scrolls Online family this year, and this number does not even count the many players that joined the game for free through the Epic Games Store.
Elder Scrolls Online will celebrate its 10th anniversary next year, beginning with a two-day event on April 5 and 6 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
