Weā€™ve waited quite a while for FSR3 to come to Starfield. Bethesda had prioritized rolling out Update 1.8.86 in the middle of November, which officially added Nvidiaā€™s DLSS3 technology to the game.

Naturally, players assumed that adding FSR3 would be the next move for the studio behind successful games like Fallout and The Elder Scrolls.

However, it would take until this week for Bethesda to finally roll out the official patch that would add support for AMDā€™s FSR3 together with Intelā€™s XeSS (Xe Super Sampling) technology.

Aside from these two, the patch included bug fixes, particularly the Form ID issue that caused saves with long hours to crash and force players to go NG+.

Since there have been no changes to the patch notes after the Steam Beta period, you can check out this article for these official notes.

Players on Reddit quickly responded and left feedback on how the next update affected their games. Some players, like dreamhive, said that he saw an improvement in their gameā€™s form ID generation immediately after installing the patch.

According to the Redditor, he was able to load a particularly bugged save file following his update. He then made another save and noted that the new save file was 20 MB smaller than usual. Most importantly, his gameā€™s Form IDs also numbered just over 1 million when previously it was more than 4 million.

These are good numbers. The issue mostly involved inefficient handling of Form IDs that resulted in unused ones not being recycled, causing the game to exceed the limit and start causing crashes. Thus, it appears that Bethesda has fixed the issue.

Moreover, it showed that the patch does work retroactively in existing saves and that players donā€™t need to start a New Game to clear up the bug.
